Jesus did not say you are a light producer. He didn’t say to go out and try to produce lots of light. He didn’t say to try really hard to be salty. He didn’t say to make lots of lists and rules and dogma around how to be full of light and how to be extra salty.

He said you ARE the salt of the earth, you ARE the light of the world. When you are in Him, you will be light, you will be salt.

Light doesn’t try to be light, it just is. Salt doesn’t try to be salty, it just is. You can actively hide your light, you can actively lose your saltiness, but you cannot actively try to be salty or light-giving. You LET your light shine or you hide it – there is no striving and climbing to shine harder and brighter – if you are light it is because God is in you.

The lists and rules and dogma you need to stay lit, to stay salty? It amounts to this – abide in Him. Abide in Him, the true vine, and you will bear much fruit. (See John 15:4)

Get with Him. Spend time with Him. Listen to Him. Learn His voice. Lean into Him until you love Him so much more than anything and anyone on this earth, and then lean into Him more because you’ve only scratched the surface.

Our God is huge beyond your comprehension, light beyond your comprehension, good beyond your comprehension and He wants you to know Him.

Our God is huge beyond your comprehension, light beyond your comprehension, good beyond your comprehension and He wants you to know Him.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:14

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
